Microchipping

No one likes the thought of a lost pet. At our clinic, we recommend a microchip. It will help your pet with being identified with ease. A microchip is a small electronic bead that is injected under the skin behind their shoulders. It is a permanent solution to pet identification, as long as the contact information is kept up to date.

Why is it a good idea to microchip my pet?

Although a tattoo in the ear is always recommended for every pet, a microchip is a more permanent way to identify your animal should they get lost. Occasionally, a tattoo may be difficult to read over time, or you may move to an area where the code is not recognized. The microchip data can be registered with online databases so your pet can be easily identified from most clinics with a scanner.

How does microchipping work and is it safe for my pet?

A very small chip is implanted through a needle under the skin. These chips are read by scanners that most vet hospital and SPCA branches have. Microchipping is very safe and is most often done when the animal is being spayed/neutered. Using the code provided with the microchip, you can register your dog with online registries so they can easily be identified.

How much does it cost to microchip my pet?

For pricing, please contact the clinic and we will be happy to provide you with a quote.
